About Øksnehallen

Øksnehallen is located in the Brune Kødby in Copenhagen. The entrance is from Kvægtorvet which is adjacent to Halmtorvet.

Øksnehallen was designed by Ludvig Fenger and was built in 1901.The building had room for around 1600 cattles, but after 20 years of operation, it no longer lived up to the strict requirements for hygiene. In 1934 the Hvile Kødby was built, where the slaughter was then carried out.

In June 1997, was Øksnehallen inaugurated as part of Kulturby 96.

Among the events that are held annually in Øksnehallen are Copenhagen Fashion Week and Historical Days.
